Message for
the 34th Annual Meeting of
the Japanese Society for
Vascular Biology and Medicine
Congress President: Tetsuro Watabe, PhD
Department of Biochemistry
Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences,
Institute of Science Tokyo
It is my great pleasure to announce that the 34th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Vascular Biology and Medicine will be held over two days, November 14 (Saturday) and 15 (Sunday), 2026, at Juntendo University. I am deeply honored to serve as Congress President for this important meeting. I sincerely hope that many members will join us, making this conference a vibrant forum for active discussion and meaningful exchange.
The theme of this meeting is
“TOGETHER: The Power of Diversity Connecting Generations, Fields, and Basic to Clinical Research”.
The primary goal of this meeting is to create opportunities for members to come together (TOGETHER) and engage in open dialogue, fostering exchange that transcends generational and disciplinary boundaries. In particular, the active participation of early-career investigators is one of the greatest strengths of our society. Researchers who emerged from the Young Investigator community now play leading roles in the society, inspiring strong expectations for the future. At this meeting, we aim to facilitate sessions where early-career and senior researchers participate together (TOGETHER), stimulating and motivating one another.
Vascular research is also uniquely well suited to interdisciplinary collaboration. To date, our society has co-organized symposia with other academic societies, including the Japanese Atherosclerosis Society, the Japanese Society for Extracellular Vesicles, and the Japanese Cancer Association. At this meeting, through symposia jointly organized (TOGETHER) with other societies, we hope to provide participants with new perspectives and intellectual stimulation.
Furthermore, the close integration of basic and clinical research lies at the very core of our society. In recent years, academic meetings have tended to focus increasingly on basic research; yet, many distinguished members of our society have clearly demonstrated that outstanding basic research can and does lead to clinical application. With this in mind, we are planning this meeting to ensure that members engaged in clinical practice will also find it highly rewarding by providing forums in which basic and clinical researchers participate together (TOGETHER).
The key that enables such diverse forms of collaboration is precisely the power of diversity. Differences in gender, region, educational background, and research style, when respected, give rise to new discoveries and creativity. We hope that participants will experience firsthand the value of this diversity at this meeting.
Finally, it is the participants themselves who make a meeting truly enjoyable and meaningful. We encourage you to bring your free-thinking ideas and passion, and to join us in creating a scientific meeting that you will find truly rewarding.
